| David did not need to know Goliath's capability; nor his own abilities because he already knew God's. (Image of my two boys showing off their muscles.) |
No one knows what tomorrow holds. But we know Him who holds tomorrow.
Still, the unknown can be daunting and intimidating. A heck of a thing! Even for me.
The beginning of this year (like most years), was staring at me like a lurking giant. But every giant can be slain - think of the story of David and Goliath. Now, the year is almost lying on its back, over and done! And I am still standing. *Ding Ding Ding! Winner!*
This is what I wrote at the beginning of this year:
There are few watershed moments in life.
It feels like one. Now.
As if I am standing on the brink of an old horizon...
awaiting the new morning after darkness of night has passed.
I hate being in the dark. But the stars shine ever bright.
A testimony of trust. Hope.
A promise. Always faithful.
I am standing on the edge of a cliff.
On the plains of a desert.
Overlooking the vast emptiness.
Not knowing what awaits up close.
It feels lonely, yet a warm breeze blows.
Comforting.
I am scared out of my wits.
But the only way forward... is down
through the valley. Soar!
God be my guide! God help me fly.
Help my failing flailing falling
freaking out fragile heart.
To pump
In rhythm with Yours.
Calm, strong.
Confident-knowing,
Set on a sure course,
Crafted by You.
Designed.
Redeemed.
Defined
By You.
Jesus.
Actually, this pretty much sums up my life's attitude and APTITUDE! (and there you thought pastors wives have such a blissful existence, hahahaha). And so, if by chance you thought that I've got it all figured out- far from it! But I know one thing for sure: Jesus does. He knows what tomorrow holds. He knows you intricately and He knows our frail weak frame is made up of nothing else but dust, yet He loved you and me so much that He faced death for us. He had it all figured out, before the foundation of the earth was formed.
He has you figured out too. Just Trust Him. And you'll see...
The giant lying on its back.
