In Mat 6:26 Jesus says to His followers
to consider the birds...
God uses nature to teach us about Him and
how His Kingdom works. I love the simplicity of it!
And it is helpful in teaching our kids
too.
A few years back, I used scripture and
the analogy of a tree to explain life in Christ at a ladies' tea.
Naturally, the theme for the morning was 'Rooted'.
A tree has roots for two obvious
reasons (yes, even our kids can guess this):
- To draw nutrients&water from the soil
- To anchor itself and be able to withstand harsh weather conditions.
In our lives, the roots refer to the
depth of our relationship with Jesus. When we are firmly rooted in
Christ, we will be able to stand, no matter our situation and
circumstance.
Psa 1:1-3 Blessed is the man.... whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
When a tree has healthy roots - the
unseen part - then the seen parts of the tree will display LIFE splendidly (extravagant, prosperously)!
In Proverbs 21:21 it says: “Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life”
When we pursue righteousness and unfailing love, we will find and display life.
We often pursue righteousness and love
as constructs in itself, but correct and complete righteousness and
love can only be found in Jesus Christ.
(...Not in right living, not in being
loved by another human being.)
Psalm 89:14 “Righteousness and
justice are the foundation of Your throne, unfailing love and truth
walk before You as attendants.”
Wow! That's a God we serve!!
May you be encouraged to pursue Jesus.
May our relationship with Him be our first priority.
Col
2:6-7
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,
rooted and built up in him and established in the faith...
Psa 1:1-3 Blessed is the man.... who pursues Jesus! (Because Jesus is the fulfillment of the law of God.) He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
