Celebrating the Brave

We have recently had our annual ladies' event. The theme for the event was 'Be Bold'. At first thought, this conjures up images of a bunch of ladies loudly shaking fists in the air, but far from it!

Painting by Marika Waterston.

To be bold means to live a life consecrated to Christ.

It means that you have the courage to lay your personal preferences and comforts at the feet of Jesus- courageously marching to the beat of another Drummer. In-step obedience to Him.

It is the courage to wrench ourselves loose from the culture - the esteem of the world is not worth it in any case!

It is the courage to walk counter-culture. To view gentleness, kindness and humility as powerful weapons with which we overcome and conquer the hearts of even our enemies or those opposed to Christ.. and sometimes, of course very seldom ;-)  it feels as if my hostile kids fall into this category too. *wink*

I have had the privilege of knowing a lady who lived this.

And I mean, she LIVED it!

I met her during our moms' group days when our kids were still little. Her bubbly personality and always-kindness and thankfulness made a huge impact on my life. And her love, her deep deep love for Jesus was conveyed in everything she did. Her life was the message and it was undeniably shouting that Jesus was her King, Saviour and Lord. Her every breath of life was His.

Marika Waterston, you have left an imprint on my life of what a godly woman looks like that will last for eternity. Thank you.

A few years back, at one of our first Heart2Heart events, Marika's art works were displayed as part of our decor. This particular painting was placed at the entrance to the hall. So beautiful.
