Millennials.
I want to shake my head and say "poor things". *shame*
The only problem is that I am a Millennial too. *hohohoo*
[I wish I was rather a millionaire.]
And as such, I suffer from all the illnesses typically related to Millennials- from narcissism to selective hearing, to being really bad at conflict... *the list is endless*
Fortunately all cases of these illnesses are being treated by putting self to death through the guidance of the greatest heart surgeon: the Holy Spirit.
I did however, seem to miss out on one illness in particular, called FOMO.
FEAR OF MISSING OUT
It can apparently drive you to spend hours and hours on social media. It can also, (apparently) make you say yes to everything. Because you can do anything and everything and keep everyone happy. Hell yes, isn't that the definition of a narcissist? Thinking you are god?
"Be all you can be" *loudspeaker voice*
"You can be anything" (I blame Barbie.)
"Just do it"
Shucks, maybe I do suffer from a mild case of FOMO? *Okay, SEVERE*
So yes, living with margin and having limits is not easy for us who where taught we can do it all!
Yet, we are overwhelmed in trying to make it. Overloaded.
Here's a question to ask: Am I currently content or constantly restless?
Some advice from my doctor:
Isa 40:28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Even strong, young, determined Millennials grow weary.
The word 'wait" also refers to serving God; putting Him first in our lives; inquiring of God. Like a waitress taking a client's order and then bringing his or her desired meal.
Even strong, young, determined Millennials grow weary.
But, when we spend time with God and live a life where our heart's desire is to please Him, then He will clothe us with HIS strength.
Psa 18:31-32 For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?— the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless
I pray that you will find the time to take His order for your life, and let go of the long to-do list of self-demise.
Admit it: We cannot do it without God's strength.
Much love.

Yes, there is a whole theology of limits in God's Word. From the garden of Eden- "don't eat from the tree of good and evil"...
Embrace limits instead of trying to do it all.
