Morning Walks

I amaze myself at all the things I can jabber on about when walking with my friend in the mornings. Even at a brisk pace, it is unbelievable how many words we as women can utter in half hour!

Have you ever gone for a stroll with someone where there was nothing but silence?

I've never had this happen(!!) - partly because I am a women with words to use and partly because it is such a great opportunity to share all your ideas with a “semi-captivated” audience. ;-)

*tip: choose your walking buddy wisely :-)

Back to the silence... it would be a bit awkward don't you think? Sauntering along, admiring the streets and cars rushing past and not a single word. Not even a huff or a puff or a mention of how tough the walk is. Nothing.

I have heard some say that when you understand another person fully, there is no need for words.

And in some situations I get that. Words can be overrated, but in the day to day mush mash of life and relationships, words are pretty important stuff.

Communication. Verbal and non-verbal is so very important. It is how we make sense of ourselves and of others.

When my husband preached two Sundays ago on Enoch- the man who walked with God- it was this picture of two men walking while discussing random things that stuck with me.

Walking with God

Enoch walked with God for 300 years and likewise, our walk with God is not a 500 meter dash but a steady, consistent, continuous stride- a walking pace that allows us to communicate with  Him about everything. Absolutely everything. Do-able. Desire-able!

I am always amazed at how quick our morning workout walks go. The main reason for this is that our conversation serves as a great distraction. Time flies when you are having fun AND fellowship! And likewise, with our Christian journey:

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (Ps 23:4)

When we listen and focus on the Words of God, when we talk and walk WITH Him, we are distracted from our situation and become less conscious of the efforts exerted in the uphill of life.

Mesmerised by His wisdom; Words.

What a commendation to be referred to as the man or woman who walked with God. Enoch's faith and life and love for God was so pleasing to Him that Enoch never died- he continued to walk with God into eternity. (Heb 11:5-6)

Ps 86:11  Teach me your way(road; path), O LORD, that I may walk(continue) in your truth: join my heart to yours.
(Adapted, using the King James Version)

Join my heart to yours. It's a walk of life, to life; brings life.

Je t'aime - Willow Tree by Susan Lordi. This is one of my very favorites. Join my heart to Yours, oh Lord.
