Sweeties and Pearls

Here's some more of the things I've been busy with during my months of absence from blogger wwworld :)

On the 7th of May this year, we hosted a ladies' breakfast with the theme Sweeties and Pearls.

It was a wonderful morning and I hope to share more soon. We truly "tasted and saw that God was/is/always will be GOOD!" Pearls of wisdom stuff! Yum!

Jesus- the precious pearl.
Nothing compares to Him.

Entrance Feature... the big pearl balls were a wonderful touch. Polysterene balls painted with pearl paint and then strung together with organza.

My husband, a pastor, is busy sharing on the Sermon on the Mount (Mat 5:1 to Mat 7:27)... one of the scriptures: "Do not cast your pearls to pigs lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you"

Many say it refers to the fact that we shouldn't share the gospel with evildoers... but I disagree. Jesus WANTS us to share the good news.

Instead, I believe what Jesus is referring to is what we do with that which has been given us- in other words, lets not allow the carnal things of this world to consume the pearls we have received from Christ- Himself being our pearl of GREAT price- because if we dance with the Devil, he will kill every bit of true life in our lives!

Lets not throw away the revelations and wisdom and peace and joy we've received from Christ by indulging in carnal matters such as gossip, slander, unforgiveness etc.

I've found in my life that when i do give in to carnal cravings such as gossip... it consumes my heart and I become critical and hard.

What Jesus is saying in this piece in Matthew 7 is judge not others, but rather look at your own life. Again... Guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Allow Christ to have your heart completely for He is our precious pearl beyond all measure!

Popcorn as welcome snack. The paper flowers had smarties in centre- apt for the theme

Real oyster shells with fondant icing "pearls". A lot of the sweets were made from petting/ fondant ice (hardening gel added as well as colourant)- this worked out cheaper than buying those big round lollipops and since it was only for decor purposes, it worked very well

The main decor feature was a delectable dessert table filled with marshmallows, candy, cupcakes, liquorice and red roses. A bunting flag hung atop the table. Gorgeous! Girly!

On the stage a bookshelf with self made awning filled with treasures and sweets looked spectacular.

Flowers in coloured teapot on a cakestand spray painted yellow. The colourful sweets were made from icing. Cute little cupcake "lollipop toppers" also brought in colour. Colour theme: Aqua blue and post box red with hint of black, yellow.

All these lovely photos were taken by Anina from in the light photography.THANKS ANINA!! You captured the moment beautifully. Have a look at her website http://www.inthelightphoto.co.za/

God is GOOD! We have soo much to be thankful for! "His goodness endures forever!"
