Setting up Show House is a Breeze (NOT)

Since we're on the topic of "Winds of change", I thought it apt to tell you a bit about our plan to sell our house... yes, our house is in the market since we would like to move closer to our new family at Highway Church and to the community in Centurion that we so desperately want to reach with the good news of the gospel!

So… Sunday  (yesterday) was show time!

I don’t know how they sell houses in other parts of the world, but here in South Africa, we have estate agents that market your house and bring potential buyers to have a look and then there is also the option of doing a show house. This happens on a Sunday between 2pm and 5pm and of course, the idea is to present your home in the best possible way. I need not tell you what a mission it is to accomplish this with three little children.

NOT a breeze.

But I was adamant and very determined. In the end our home was the neatest and cleanest it has been in 6 years! We’ve even managed to hang long-overdue pictures on the walls... I couldn’t resist the urge to capture the (fleeting) moment and sense of accomplishment.

As I uploaded the pictures, I was overcome with nostalgia and incredible gratefulness. Yes, our house hasn’t sold as fast as I think it should’ve and yes, it most certainly almost never look like these pictures (I wish), but wowee!! do I have a lot to be thankful for! We are so blessed!

It reminded me of a little anecdote I once read: “When I'm worried and I can't sleep I count my blessings instead of sheep.”

Here’s some pictures of our very neat and tidy home and the blessed stories it tell… once you start counting your blessings in Christ, there is always something else to be thankful for.

Thankful for toys... even if lying around all over, fridge... even if not always full (but always enough!), thankful for a pretty kitchen, thankful for cutlery and crockery. Thankful for pots and pans; a stove and oven! Pictures of loved ones on the fridge, invitiations to wedding celebrations- thankful for marraige, for my husband, for our friendship, relationship... intimacy (ok, yes, I mean sex)

Thankful for couches and the privilege of being able to entertain friends and family. Thankful for pretty wallpaper and beautiful frames- both gifts. Thankful for the givers of these gifts- close friends. Thankful to the giver of the greatest gifts: eternal life and here and now, close company- never lonely: Thankful for the life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
Thankful for pictures of the beautiful places and cities across the world we've had the privilege of visiting, thankful for Protea flowers- they are gorgeous- and hard to find anywhere else. Thankful for a soft bed and bedding, thankful for a wonderful wedding day, thankful for the most precious gifts- straight from heaven- my little ones... SO CUTE (thankful that they are such a joy and that they really kept the house clean and didn't fuss about mommy's fussyness) . Thankful for carpets and cupboards, for clothes and clotheracks, for sunshine and rain, for protection and provision, for family and friends all across the world and for the technology to keep in touch.... thankful thankful THANKFUL!

We are truly blessed with so much. Why then do we always tend to get anxious or worried over that which we (WE) think we must have?
Cast your cares upon Christ and in return your soul will be peacefilled.

Here's some restfull reassurance:

Mat 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
