Moms Musical [1920 Swing & Bling]

Last month 13th Nov, the ladies got together for some swing & bling action! 1920s revisited...

I shared a bit- here it is, may it inspire you!

"I’m sure that you are all wondering why we decided upon 1920 as a theme. And well, for no reason really. In fact, at the time, I knew nothing about 1920 at all!

Then last week I decided I should probably look into this so-called golden decade… you know, for dressing up reasons.

And I was shocked… the 1920s was earmarked by a global feminine uprising- and not in a good way.

During this decade, women were provocatively rebellious; trying to defy the common code of conduct or morals of society. They wanted to prove their independence and their freedom.

Yet, once the great depression hit in 1930, these so-called wild women (women against the world) actions stopped. Their striving for independence was totally shuttered by the more serious issue of economic recession. Thus, their freedom….. was in the end, not so free after all.

What makes us so different from these ladies?

Likewise, women have more rights today than ever and seem to be much more independent. Also, in one sense, we have been living in a golden era that has lately been rocked by worldwide financial fears.

So, what makes us different from the ladies in the 1920s?

Just this: our freedom comes from Christ. Our dependence is Christ crucified. Jesus died on the cross so that I can be free from sin and slavery. He is the only way, the truth and the life!

As we hold fast to our faith,

we counter culture,
not by being rebellious
but by being relentless in our pursuit of holiness.

Our freedom, unlike the false freedom craved by the women in the 1920s, is not dependent on the things of this world that can so easily go wrong but instead we put our trust in God, whom cannot be shaken!" (lov, Liezl)
