Fighting the Good Fight of Faith

Faith evokes the notion of deep meditation and passivity but quite the contrary: Faith might mean that your heart is at peace, but, often, it involves the constant battle of the mind and sometimes, even physical action as one fight it out: mind over matter! Faith is likened to a waiting period but just like a duck swimming calmly on the waters, there is a lot of action below the surface where little feet are paddling away like crazy. Faith is not the absence of hard work but rather hard work with conviction and inner calm.

Faith is the ability to laugh out loud even when it seems like the joke is on you.
At a previous ladies meeting, we ended up doing plate art and it came out beautifully!

Often, faith is illustrated as running this earthly race with endurance. Running toward the prize. But faith is also running away... running away from the things that distract us from Jesus. Running away from worldly pursuits.

It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.  Fight the good fight of the faith. 1 Timothy 6:10-12
