The room was drab, with a musty smell. Yuk. The bedding stuck to your sweat drenched body like a toffee between your teeth. Yet the view… was worth it. The beach… made the house bearable.

I’m sure you’ve had a similar experience: online last minute shopping for that ultimate holiday destination that’s value for money, arriving to be utterly disappointed. True trick photography. But you’ve paid the bucks and gotta make the best of possibly the most nightmarish holiday accommodation ever. You "chin up" and smile warmly at your kids, the its- gonna- be- an- adventure expression. But secretly you’ve started numbering the days.
Looking back however, you agree it wasn’t all that bad- Uncomfortable at (most) times, yes; adventure of (all) sorts, yes… but you made it fun. You HAD to. And it was.
Christians are pilgrims. Passersby. Visitors. This is not our final destination. We KNOW our final destination. This place is just like that nightmarish holiday accommodation before getting to our home designed by the best and world renowned Architect, Jesus… but we can have fun right here, right now! Somehow it doesn’t inspire much confidence in unbelievers if Christians seem like the walking dead. Depressed. Having our own pity party.
Yes, life sometimes deals you the worst, but we can live beyond our circumstance… if only out of thankfulness that we are royalty on the roll. Chosen not out of own merit, but by the King. Chosen personally by the Landlord of a palace (truly out of this world) not as worker or washer but as co-heir!
We should be overjoyed, enjoyable, joyous! We should enthuse others- the good news: we are on our way to a destination that makes the 7star whatsitsname hotel in Dubai look like a broken down version of the Alcatraz prison. This calls for a now celebration. WOW!
