Opening our homes and hearts

This morning my daughter asked me if we could please go and visit "tannie Sammie" instead of going to school! I don't think we always realise how important fellowship between adults is, for the sake of our children.

In the same manner, we are often oblivious to the huge impact that family meetings such as church on Sundays, homegroups and prayer meetings have on our children... nevertheless, going to these meetings simply because you have to might be more detrimental than the impact of going.

Going to the meetings because you WANT to; because its family; because there the presence of God is felt; because you cannot live any other way- that is living out LOUD!

And so, even I often have to check my heart (and tuck my feelings under my shirt)- it is tough taking the kids; getting everything ready- but when I do not focus on my own comfort and instead fix my eyes on Christ and have eternity in mind, then I know that I NEED to go!

I remember there was one prayer meeting where i really really didn't feel like going and even thought of conjuring up some illness in order to stay put, snug as a bug in bed! However, I forced myself out of lethargy and went... That very night they prayed for all the moms and prophesied over all the children. I was very VERY glad that I decided to go.

Defy self- comfort and convenience to embrace the somewhat less comfortable (i say less because it is by no means entirely unbearably uncomfortable).

And the reward? Not only impacting our children's future but also impacting ours!

Much love,
Liezl
