You know times have changed when your daughter politely corrects you that no, it is not a sandcastle but a mall. And instead of insisting to wear the Cinderella dress, she would rather choose to look ridiculous (yet cute) in a Spiderman- Kang Fu Panda outfit… the correct term being Spider Panda-monium.
“How to keep a princess heart in a not-so-fairytale world” was the title of a book I once read and it very aptly sums up the challenges of womanhood: guarding our hearts against modern day muck that tries to taint our thoughts and tarnish our good intentions.
Since having met my prince on his white horse, albeit the modern version- chrome wheels, cream leather seats- life has been somewhat of a rollercoaster ride with unexpected loops and lags that makes eating poison apples look easy. Snow White got it right though, resting and waiting for her true love's kiss. This was her saving grace!
